Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Keepen for using the Keepen app and this website. By using either, you accept them. They're written to be read, not skimmed past — Keepen is a small, deliberate thing and so are these.

The app

Keepen is a private board for remembering the people in your life. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use it on devices you own, under the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, sell, or redistribute the app, or try to extract and republish its source, assets, or models beyond what the license they ship under allows.

Your board is yours — and lives with you

Everything you put into Keepen stays on your device and belongs to you. We claim no rights over your notes, your people, or your dates. The flip side of nothing being on our servers is that we hold no copy: if you delete the app, lose the phone, or skip your device's own backups, we cannot recover your board. Keeping the device backed up (via the system's backup, if you use one) is in your hands.

Keepen Pro

Some features are part of Keepen Pro, a paid upgrade available as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.

• Payment goes through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Prices, taxes, and any free-trial terms are shown by the store before you confirm.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time in your store account's subscription settings — a cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and until then Pro stays on.
• A free trial, where offered, converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends.
• Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy — Apple and Google process the payment, so they are the ones able to return it.
• If a price changes, the store notifies you and the change only applies at your next renewal, under the store's rules.
• Your entitlement belongs to your store account, not to one install: use “Restore purchases” in the app to bring Pro to a new phone.

The helper is a small model, not an oracle

Keepen's AI features run on your phone and answer from what you wrote on your board. Like all language models, they can be wrong, incomplete, or oddly phrased — treat what they say as a memory aid, not as fact, and not as professional advice of any kind. You're responsible for what you do with it.

Fair use

Don't use Keepen to break the law, to harass or harm anyone, or to attack the app or this website (probing, scraping the waitlist, disrupting the service). Keepen holds notes about real people — keeping those notes kind and lawful is on you.

What's ours

The Keepen name, the cairn, the pixel villagers, the design, and the app's code are ours (or our licensors'). These terms give you the right to use the app, not to reuse its parts elsewhere.

No warranty

Keepen is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We work hard on it; we don't promise it's perfect.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Keepen — including lost data, since the only copy of your board is the one on your device. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Keepen Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law in your country grants you and doesn't let us change.

Ending things

You can stop using Keepen at any time by deleting the app — your board goes with it, and an active subscription is cancelled through the store, not by deletion. We may stop providing the app or refuse service where these terms are seriously breached; your board, living on your device, remains yours either way.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top, and continuing to use Keepen after that means accepting the change.
